The Lector is the person who proclaims the First or Second reading during the Liturgy of the Word. The Liturgy of the Word is one of two principal parts of the Mass, and the faithful are fed with the Word of God. The quality of the Lector’s proclamation helps the faithful receive and respond to the Word.

Recognising how significant the Lectors Ministry is to the community is important. Lectors have the privilege of proclaiming the Word of God, which desperately needs to be heard and proclaimed well. It is an awesome responsibility and honour, and Lectors will be inspired to work hard to help the Word of God come alive for the community.
