St. Mark’s Primary School, Dingley Village
St. Mark’s Catholic Primary School was established in 1934. It was operated by order of the Sisters of Mercy until 1976, when the first lay Principal was appointed. In the late 1950s and early 1960s, there was an influx of multicultural families into St. Mark’s, and that trend continues today. Many children come from ESL (English as a Second Language) backgrounds.
St. Mark’s is a co-educational Catholic Primary School in Dingley, established in 1974. St Mark’s is in the parish of St Joseph’s in Springvale under the guidance of the Order of Minor Conventual Franciscans.
St. Mark’s School is committed to keeping the diversity of all children, including (but not limited to) the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, children from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, children with disabilities, and children who are vulnerable and safe at all times. This means that the kids at the school feel safe. The teachers and staff in the school know what to do if a student says they feel unsafe. St. Mark’s provides a safe and caring environment. Our commitment is drawn from the teaching and mission of Jesus Christ, with love, justice and the goodness of each human person at the heart of the gospel.
